The newly established Baldwin County Alumni Chapter of the University of West Alabama gathered Monday night Oct. 13th at Felix's on the causeway to reunite with friends and make plans to establish a scholarship fund for Baldwin County students that plan to attend The University of West Alabama. The newly elected officers for the group is President - Shane Tucker, Vice President - Brandon Simpson and Secretary/Treasurer - Jody W. Campbell. Alex Saad, President of the Mobile County UWA Alumni Chapter was the guest speaker Monday night and gave some great information about starting a new chapter and offered encouragement and support to all who attended the event. There are plans to start fundraisers so that a scholarship can be awarded Fall Semester 2009 to a Baldwin county high school senior. If anyone is interested in joining the chapter, please do not hesitate to contact tstone@uwa.edu to find out more information. The group is open to all that support the University of West Alabama. You do not have to be a graduate to be a member. Also, parents of students that are currently attending the University of West Alabama are welcome to join this group. There are tentative plans to charter a bus to attend the last UWA football game of the season November 8th.
