The Choctaw County Alumni Chapter held its annual Crawfish Boil on April 26 at the beautiful Utsey camp house outside Butler. A great crowd turned out to enjoy fresh shrimp and crawfish cooked up by Bama Crawfish and to visit with old and new friends. Guest speakers included UWA President Richard Holland, head football coach Bobby Wallace, head volleyball coach Ron Arenz and head tennis coach Ron Hartzog. Proceeds from the event will help fund scholarships for Choctaw County students to attend UWA.

The Choctaw County Alumni Chapter is one of the original charter chapters of the UWA National Alumni Association. Each year, the chapter holds a Crawfish Boil in Butler, Alabama. This event is attended annually by UWA President, Richard Holland, many UWA staff and coaches and many of the 553 graduates of UWA living in Choctaw County. With funds raised through the $15 annual dues and donations, the Choctaw County Alumni Chapter awards several alumni scholarships to deserving UWA students from Choctaw County.
