The Mobile County Alumni Chapter held three
events this spring. Head Football Coach Bobby Wallace was the
key note speaker for the chapter’s spring meeting on April 3 at
Gordon Oaks at Knollwood. Coach Wallace spoke about the Tigers
gearing up for the fall after a rebuilding year which saw the
Tigers go 6 -5 during his first year at the Tiger helm. Coach
Wallace also spoke about how the atmosphere in Livingston is
right for the teams success. Coach Wallace is the only head
coach in NCAA history to win back-to-back-to-back National
Championships. On June 5 the chapter sponsored a social at the
Bluegill Restaurant and Bar in Spanish Fort, Alabama. More than
50 alumni and guests enjoyed great food and fellowship while
taking in the sunset on the water. The Chapter’s annual golf
tournament was held at the Spring Hill College Golf Course on
Saturday, June 9. The tournament saw 64 golfers and numerous
volunteers work together to raise money for the chapter’s
scholarship fund. “We had a great turnout at this year’s
tournament,” said Chapter President Dr. Bob Clardy. “Especially
when you consider the hot temperatures everyone had to endure.”
The Mobile County Alumni Chapter has been the
largest and most active chapter for several years. Under the
leadership of alum, Dr. Bob Clardy (’54), this chapter has
raised more than $75,000 for scholarships! The chapter will hold
its fall meeting the second Tuesday of October.
