It’s
true what they’re saying….
THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLACE
From someone who came
to LU (Livingston University) in 1971 – left in 1972 – returned
in 1974 – left in 1981 and returned again for good in 1999 –
There is Something About this Place. It gets in your blood and
you just can’t shake it! It was my good fortune to be at LU when
James P. Homer was Dean of Students and later Executive Vice
President. Dean Homer had a profound effect upon my life, as he
did many others. If you ever had the opportunity to be around
Jim Homer, you know exactly what I’m talking about! Livingston
is a place to learn not only book sense but also about life! I’m
not finished growing up yet, but this University has had a
tremendous impact upon that process!
I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as your UWA
National Alumni Association President. I take this opportunity
to encourage you to be a member of the National Alumni
Association. The NAA works to represent all UWA alumni and it
supports the best interests and traditions of UWA. Your $25
annual dues provide you with numerous exclusive member benefits
while supporting a growing list of alumni programs. Mike Graham
will even give you a big discount at the campus bookstore!
There are so many exciting things happening at UWA.
Enrollment is up and there are a number of projects underway.
Have you seen the football field lately or the baseball complex?
What about the new tennis courts on campus and the Bell
Conference Center! You just have to come and see for yourself.
There are, of course, the familiar sites on campus. The covered
bridge is as beautiful as ever. I’m sure we each have our own
memories of that covered bridge! One of my favorite memories at
LU was riding my bike around campus and the beautiful downtown
area. My brothers that came before me (B.K. and Micky Smith)
knew the trouble you could get into with a car, so they all
decided a bike would suit me better. Well, it was fantastic. I
loved bike riding. I still have the bike to this day! Of course,
the education at UWA is top notch. We have it all at UWA. It
just doesn’t get any better.
I also encourage you to report any important happenings
in your life to the alumni office. We want to know! We will
probably even write about you in the Tiger Tails section of the
next alumni magazine. Make sure we have your correct address and
send us your news! You are important to us and we want to share
in the successes of your life.
It is indeed a pleasure and honor to serve as your
National Alumni Association President. I pray that God will
bless you and guide your path. We would love for you to come and
visit the campus. You might find you want to stay for a while!
THERE’S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLACE!
