More than 75 alumni gathered on the patio at
the President’s Home for the Sumter County Alumni Chapter’s
“Tailgate Party” prior to the football game on Thursday, August
31. Tiger fans enjoyed finger foods and drinks while SGA
President Danielle Buckalew and father Danny Buckalew played
their guitars and sang. The UWA “Scarlet Band from Tiger Land”
stopped by and thrilled the party-goers with the fight song
before heading to the stadium for the game. “We were very
pleased with the turn out and I think everyone had a good time,”
said chapter president Carl Sudduth. The Sumter County Alumni
Chapter is currently planning their next meeting and will post
details soon.
With nearly 900 UWA graduates living in
Sumter County, the Sumter County Alumni Chapter can be one of
the largest and most active chapters of the National Alumni
Association. We encourage you to join our Sumter County Alumni
Chapter. Individual annual dues to the chapter are $15 and for
married couples who are both UWA alumni, annual dues are $25.
These dues are separate from dues to the National Alumni
Association. All checks should be made payable to UWA and on the
memo line of your check please note “Sumter Co. Alumni Dues.” By
supporting our chapter, we in turn may support deserving Sumter
County students through our chapter scholarship.
